The seemingly out-of-place weapons and the contrast between model and environment creates tensions in the image and has a message of discomfort. Neither can the models be objectified as empty shells, nor is there any interaction with the spectator. Nothing is what it appears to be, and out of their regular context machine guns seem like harmless, innocent objects.
